Double Strokes on the drums: "One note shifted Pattern"
During my clinics there are a lot of moments where I get into subjects that deserve a closer attention. On this video you can see and hear what difference it makes between playing double strokes in the regular way (RRLL, RRLL and so on...) or in a different way, shifting 1 note! (RLLR RLLR and so on...). Make sure you play an accent on every 2nd note of the group, i.e. the 4 and 8th notes (RlLr RlLr and so on...) Be aware of the difference in rebound on every drum (snare, toms, cymbals and hihat)! You have to train yourself in hitting many different surfaces and respond to it keeping the groove going while you play these figures on the set! Try and play it slowly first! Keep time when you practice at all times..... Juan
