Cowbell Groove Exercises: 2 Bar Grooves
When you managed to play around with the previous lessons, it is time to move on a bit and try some 2-bar grooves; try to memorize the grooves that are printed and keep playing them until you feel a consistent groove going.
The little snare rolls in exercise 4 and 6 add a nice feel to the types of grooves we are examining here. They tend to sound more Latin-funky once you play them as you can see on the video and the transcription.
The dynamics in exercise 4 is just an example; you might want to try using dynamics with the other grooves in the score as well.
Overall, I've put some great grooves together for you, that will always sound very musical as long as you don't play them too fast!
Keep on playing them consistently and get into the groove! Watch the video in which I explain how to work around the grooves.
Tip: try to play the off-beat pattern with the hi-hat foot.
