"2nd hand drumset, which one should I choose?"
Hi Juan
After a long time of not playing drums (about 13 years) I would love to start playing again! I have been looking around for a 2nd hand drum kit and I found 2 different sets that I feel attracted to; both look very good. I have got no idea which one would be the best choice for me. I am talking about a Tama Rockstar and a Pearl Export, both in the same setup. Which one do you think has got the best quality so I can enjoy playing for many years?
Sincerely,
Ronald
Hello Ronald,
First of all thanks for your question!
It often is quite difficult to make a choice when there's so much being offered (E-bay, 2nd Hand...) And certainly if you have been out of the drum world for 13 years. I think in your case it is best to follow your intuition; the 2 type of drumkits you have mentioned are equal of quality and in this case I am not going to discuss the differences in sound
Today it is a fact that in general the products have gained on quality a lot and therefor it has become more difficult to make a choice at all! Simply because the enormous amount of good quality drums!
In your case maybe it is best to focus on the state of the drumset (any rust on the hardware, drumheads still ok?, does it come with or without cymbals?). Also ask about how the owner used the drumkit (did he buy it brand new or 2nd hand already? has it been out on gigs or did it stay indoors all the time?) Compare the prices with the new prices in the shops and then calculate if it's a good deal or not.
I hope this is good advise for you; enjoy the processof getting your new drumset and have fun playing!! And welcome back into the drummer's world!!
Cheers,
Juan
