drumming secrets

In music business you never know what's going to happen next week. What a great suprise it was when the artist 'Waylon' (NED.) called in my services as a drummer for a couple of shows.

Waylon is a big artist / singer in The Netherlands and is part of a new generation of extreme talented singers. His voice is so cool that the USA label Motown signed a contract with him. His career has gone really fast! I have learned that within one year and a half he's grown from a wellknown singer to a famous performer..... fantastic, don't you agree? 

I recently did the The Hague Jazz Festival as a first concert. Because of the short notice and lack of time, we decided to just go out on stage and play! Of course I analysed a lot of stuff that they played live by using You Tube; because the band is still fresh and new, they didn't have a concert reference for me on audio. I've spent time to write down all the parts and use leadsheets to keep me on the track. And it surely helped me out during that concert, without rehearsing with the band!

Playing these concerts made me realize that Waylon has the abbility to pull it all out on stage and I expect an absolute international break through for this guy!

Looking forward to play at the big North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam. For this concert we will take the oportunity to rehearse, thank God!

So far I can only say that I am glad I could be a little part of it....
